The Suffolk Peanut Fest (October 4-7), a family-friendly festival honoring Suffolk, Virginia’s agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts, will celebrate its 41st anniversary with midway rides, live music, a demolition derby, mud jam, petting zoo, arts & crafts, Art Gallery Tent, commercial vendors, bingo, contests, carnival games, favorite fair food and Saturday night Fireworks Extravaganza.
Festival highlights include the Demolition Derby (7 pm), Kids in America: Totally 80s Tribute Band (9 pm) on Friday; Chalk Art Competition (10 am – 2 pm), Mud Jam (1 pm), Peanut Butter Sculpture Contest (2 pm), William Michael Morgan concert (8:30 pm) on Saturday; and Swamp Roar Motorcycle Rally Send-off (10:45 am), Gospel Showcase (3 pm) and Craig Morgan concert (5:15 pm) on Sunday.
Festival admission is $10 (or $30 for a four-day pass), free for children 10 and younger, and $5 on Sunday for military (with military ID) and dependents (with ID).
On Thursday, Carload Day, admission and unlimited rides are $40 per vehicle for up to 8 passengers.
Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. (Rides take 2 or more tickets each.) Unlimited ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are available on Sunday for $30.
Midway hours are 2 to 11 pm Thursday, noon to 11 pm Friday, 10 am to 11 pm Saturday, and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday at Suffolk Executive Airport, 1410 Airport Road.
Festival hours are 2 to 10:30 pm Thursday, 10 am to 11 pm Friday – Saturday, and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday.
